Many people assume that Christian Mystics are a mysterious lot, shrouded in the ethereal and otherworldly, divorced from the practical normality of so much of life. In reality however, Christian Mystics are simply believers who have set their love upon God and pursue Him in relationship that includes direct experience with God Himself. The Scriptural basis for this experience comes from Jesus in John 17: “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us."
