This message comes through loud and clear in the lives of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. While they failed time and again, God was faithful to convict, restore and bless them. And He is able to deal with our slipping and stumbling as well.
"Many of God's children say, 'I have a lack; I am conscious of a need; yet I am unable to define what it is I need.' At some point in our history many of us seek from God a 'second blessing,' often with little clear idea of what the content of such a blessing may be. Let me tell you that it includes not one thing merely but three. In Changed Into His Likeness, Watchman Nee uses the lives of the patriarchs to show that God is able to turn our failure into success and our weakness into strength. He does this not so much by transforming the situation as by transforming us. But God's sufficiency in the face of our failure is seen only as we surrender to Him and are continually changed into His likeness.
"Let me say something to reassure you. God is not expecting to find those who are naturally 'born good,' and who therefore have no need for His dealings with them. He knows well that they are not to be found. He chooses ordinary folk like you and me, who are willing to receive from Him His gift of grace, and who are willing also to submit to this discipline in order that the gift should not be abused."
