A Testimony of Glory
“My body is the Lord’s and it’s His to figure out how to take care of it.”
Martha Kilpatrick, “A Testimony of Glory”
Under the best of circumstances, sickness brings physical suffering. And all too often, it can also invite spiritual accusation and suspicion. Those who are sick may struggle with doubt and unbelief, especially if those around them bear the spirit of Job’s friends. But of some sicknesses, Jesus said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it” (John 11:4). This message is Martha Kilpatrick’s testimony of a sickness for the purpose of glory.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
Romans 12:1 NKJV
Our bodies are to be “a living sacrifice,” and a sacrifice, by its very nature, involves giving up something that has value to us. In “A Testimony of Glory,” Martha tells of two different healings for two different sicknesses. This stunning witness of God’s sovereign goodness in times of suffering will encourage those who are yet in the midst of their own suffering.
As Isaiah discovered, there really is “beauty for ashes,” and this poignant and personal message from Martha chronicles her own journey into the reality of Isaiah’s revelation. Here is God glorified and vindicated – you don’t want to miss it!
